Meditation Experiment - Part 2
I have been meditating daily on a fairly regular basis now. I haven’t been disciplined about doing it on the weekends and I’m doing it only once a day instead of twice like I had originally planned. That aside, the progress is improving though I can tell there is a long way to go.
Meditation Experiment
My last post, or confession, was on stress. Studying up on the subject the best solution I see is meditation. Learning about meditation has opened my eyes to the vastnesses in which the practice not only reduces stress, but hosts many more benefits. Truth is I have been intrigued with meditation for a while but have only half-ass pursued it. First, it is not as easy as one may initially think. There are some preparation considerations involving alertness, diet, warm-up and relaxation techniques that contribute to successful progress. There is also the consistency of practice that makes a big difference. It is best to get on a set schedule, even if it is only 5 minutes twice a day, but somehow my life seems more chaotic than that and to steal away 5 minutes of quiet and solitude is going to be a challenge.
Stress Management
Merriam-Webster defines stress as: a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation or a state resulting from a stress; especially : one of bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium.
