Rethinking Reality
Here's an idea that has taken some time to evolve. What if we tried on a new belief system? I mean backup our current one, delete it from our brains, and upload a new one. What would the outcome be? If you take the simple question, "What do you know to be true?," the only possible answer is "I am conscious." Everything else is assumption, even for me to believe you are conscious or that there is anything 'real' outside of my projection of it. Taking the only thing I know to be true and removing the rest of the clutter allows me to reconstruct a different view of reality that I can upload and take for a spin.
Starting with my foundation of 'I am conscious' I can constructed different models to experiment with. I have given this much deeper thought and consideration and has evolved with much influence from Steve Pavlina, Deepak Chopra, Jed McKenna, Dan Millman, Plato, Descartes, and many other synchronicities along the way , but I'm going to keep the example here simple and colorful. So lets start our recipe off with a half-cup of Matrix (yes the movie). Since the only thing I know for sure is I am conscious, then I can accept it as possible that everything around me – objects, people, sensations, memories, and my own body – are merely simulations. Consciousness, therefore, is taking a ride on this character called 'Me' and gets to experience and interact with everything in the simulation. So, what are the consequences of this belief system? The primary upside for me is that I am able to take on life more like a video game player than a fear-based human animal. If obstacles and interactions with 'people' are merely parts of the simulation, then I can approach them with a game-like strategy and fearless attitude. I can choose how my character will interact. In other words, I can interact with the game in a fun way, even in challenging situations, and not be merely controlled by it.
Next ingredient, ¾ cup Law of Attraction. Basically the Law of Attraction is “whatever you think about, you bring about; whatever you focus on grows” (check out The Secret if you want to learn more about this concept). This works for the good and the bad so if I focus on positive outcomes and desires, they will transpire in my life, but if I dwell on negativities, then they too will become prevalent. This belief means I can use my thoughts to influence the simulation. Having this power, I can now bring elements into the game that I want to experience. This may be in terms of wealth, relationships, experiences, objects, you name it. Okay, sounds far fetched but give it an honest try (the key is honest) and see what happens. Using this magic idea I have created some amazing things in my life.
Now, add 14 cups of So What. So what if you think it is delusional? So what if people think you are crazy? So what if the logical part of your brain denies the possibilities? So what how the ego reacts to this line of thinking? So what if it is a totally inaccurate representation of how reality operates? I say, so what if it works? That is all that matters to me. If it works, then ride it. So, if you are feeling adventurous today, experiment by taking the controls of your video game character and go forth in this amazing 3D realm. Win, lose, or draw, it is a fun experiment to embark on. Try on some ideas and see what this living experience has to offer instead of living the same old ideas day after day until game over.
